Early Days
Jenny Rhodes qualified from Nottingham Art College attaining an honours degree in textiles and embroidery and soon took up her freelance career making costumes for Regents Park Open Air Theatre in London. She was soon talent spotted by the Design Council and invited to exhibit her work at the Textprint Exhibition in London. It was here Jeff Banks recognised her talent and commissioned thirty couture dresses of which some sold to such high profile clients to include actress Glenda Jackson, singers Lulu, Lindsey De Paul, and former girl friend of Mick Jagger, Chrissie Shrimpton.
During this time Jenny Rhodes was also designing textiles and wallpapers attracting buyers from over twenty countries round the world and exhibiting her work successfully in Holland, Germany, France and the USA. It was at this time Jenny was retained as principal designer for February Fabrics, a stylish textile company which had its origins with the famous sofa design company Robert Whiting Design and was also appointed to the Crafts Advisory Council.
